Writing from the Inside Out by Dennis Palumbo; Foreword by Larry Gelbart
John Wiley & Sons Copyright 2000

Are you struggling with feelings of extreme insecurity and self-doubt about your writing ability?
Is it a monumental task for you to get a sentence down on the page? Do you have a major deadline looming over your head?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then we recommend reading “Writing from the Inside Out” by Dennis Palumbo. Dennis Palumbo is a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in creative issues. He also co-wrote the screenplay to the movie “My Favorite Year”. This man has gone through the trenches of writer’s block. He can empathize with beginning writers who are struggling to get started and those who are already established in their careers.
Palumbo analyzes the origins of writer’s block: procrastination, fear and insecurity. However, he urges writers not to flee from these common emotions, because doing so could adversely affect your writing. Instead, he suggests that writers accept these as typical elements of the creative process.

This book does not offer easy answers or strategies for eliminating writer’s block. However, the personal anecdotes and the case studies in the book shed a bright light on the bane that is known as writer’s block!
